Position Title: Cabin Leader

Rideau Hill Camp is a sleep away summer camp which operates within the Eastern Ontario Outaouais Regional Council (EOORC) of the United Church of Canada.

This position will be responsible for:

Guiding a group of campers and helping each camper grow equally and individually and adjust to other campers and camp life, while also collaborating with program coordinators. Consistently modeling the responsibilities of the role in alignment with the Camp’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Duties include:

  • Guide individual campers in participating in cabin groups, rotation groups, and all-camp activities.
  • Build relationships with each camper to better support their needs during their time at camp.
  • Assist in explaining safety and health regulations to campers.
  • Support program activities and other camp-wide events as assigned.
  • Sleep in a cabin with campers and one other staff member, ensuring the staff-camper ratio is always maintained.
  • Participate in night watch and day supervision rotations as needed.
  • Collaborate with other staff members as required, or take on any additional duties assigned by the Camp Manager or designated leader.
  • Be available to share areas of interest or specialized knowledge with staff and campers on theme days or other special occasions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized cabin environment at all times. 
  • Guide and assist campers in organizing their belongings while staying in the cabin to reduce lost and broken items.
  • Participate in all required training and orientation sessions.
  • Adhere to work schedules and rest periods to ensure equal rotation of staff.
  • Arrive on time and give full effort in all tasks.
  • Participate in all aspects of the camp program as required. 
  • Carry out any other responsibilities as designated by the Camp Manager. 
  • Work with Chaplain to assist in the interpretation of the Christian faith to the campers through living and learning experiences. 
  • Complete and submit cabin check in/out paperwork and any other documentation required by the Camp Manager.
 
All staff members are required to provide proof of completion and/or current validity of the following prior to June 1, 2026:

Level 2 (enhanced) Police records check (within the last 9 months of commencement of employment)
